my dad is always saying things like 'of course he's hungry, you never feed him!' and 'look how skinny he is!' and 'give him some real food!' it drives me crazy. my 14 month old son eats pretty well for a young toddler, I think, and is in the 50th percentile for weight. yes, he's thin. we feed him 3 good, balanced meals and 2-3 snacks every day...sometimes it seems like all we do is feed him and yet this is all I hear from my dad when we visit. so annoying.
My father has surprisingly turned into the king of grandparenting-- or, more accurately, king of parenting. Every time my parents visit, he's full of you shoulds. You should take the baby out more, you should dress the baby warmer, you should give the baby another bottle (an hour after baby had an 8 oz bottle), you should get him a better hat... etc. And when I tell him sure, you can do that yourself then, he turns to my mom in a panic and asks her to go buy him another hat or make a new bottle. My parents live a few hours away, but boy, does this behavior make them hard to miss.
