Conservatives are a distinct minority in this country. The nation is center-left. Republicans have won exactly one presidential election in the last 24 years. So, excuse me for shrugging if conservatives get angry -- it's immaterial.

You're an idiot. Who has the Congress, the majority of governorships, and the majority of State legislatures? Republicans. Conservatives are far from a "distinct minority" America is not center-left. It's smack dab in the center. Obama won the last two elections for 2 reasons.
1. His race
2. His opponents were RINOS

Republican Governorships and state legislatures = Conservatives control the areas of least population.

Conservatives DO NOT have the overall numbers nationally.

The only reason McCain Romney, Trump have gotten as far as they did is BECAUSE they are 'RINOs' as you want to put it.  They got to where they are because they are moderates.  A far right conservative like Cruz will not get the support needed as the far right doesn't have enough of a base.  There are lots of Republicans who would sooner vote for Clinton than Cruz.[/quote]
