[/quote] Because it is a public street, meaning it should be available at some point for other members of the public to use that spot. It is considered discourteous to hog other public resources such as taking over a swing at a public park for weeks on end. If everyone just decided to use public streets as dumping grounds for their unused vehicles for extended periods of time, then neighbors and their visitors cannot also benefit from the public parking spot, which may be a huge hassle during times of bad weather. Not to mention, cars just left sitting for an extended period of time tend to become clunkers and junk up the streets. There is a reason most counties have abandoned property ordinances for situations like this. It would bug me too OP if someone thought they could offload their unused car outside my house for a long period of time. [/quote]
