According to Christian doctrine, yes, though, as mentioned earlier, some Christians don't believe that.  Some liberal churches don't actively teach it anymore.  It doesn't fit with modern  thinking about fair treatment, but it doesn't change why Christ died.  Nothing can change that. [/quote]
