I teach kids to swim  - just for my friends - and I have never spent a couple of days with a kids and not had them blowing bubbles (breath control), swimming (badly) across a pool, floating on their back and on the way to mastering dog-paddle.  And having a fantastic time learning to love the water...

yes, my child has had dozens of private lessons with a variety of instructors.  He is petrified of the water.  Most lessons were spent on the side of the pool from ages 3 to 5. 
It took 2 years of lessons to get him to put his head under water.  
And he's an amazing athlete otherwise.

Wow, you have money to burn! I can hardly believe you. I would have used more authoritarian measures. Can't wait that long or spend that much money on something simple.
