Let's hope it's not at the Tree of Life location. My car mechanic has an auto shop right across the street from Tree of Life. The school is surrounded by a sea of auto mechanic shops, scrap metal yards, and other industrial businesses. It's pretty depressing. I always felt bad for the kids going to tree of life and wondered how they could play outside with all the air quality issues.
I have been following this thread as a prospective SSMA parent, because I figure, where Lee is looking, it's a good chance SSMA is looking too. And yeah, that location is even more awful than SSMA's current location. In general, looking at charters, I feel like there are too many of them warehoused into former industrial buildings in the NE with no regard for traffic patterns, public transportation, or air quality. Honestly, sometimes that's making me think we should suck it up and stay at our neighborhood school. Now, granted, dc is miserable there, has almost no friends, is teased and bullied, and the few things that I liked about the school (i.e. the principal's handle on things) are going away... but still.
What's your neighborhood school??
