When I lived in California years ago, I always thought that the east coast had the fortune of so many great universities, but I now see that a number of my friends' children are eager to experience the great west coast universities.  It is wonderful to hear of all these California admissions, but once your children get used to the good life out there (it takes a year or more to acclimate to the hot, arid, dusty climate and topography, before you can see and appreciate the true beauty of it), they may not come back![/quote]

It is a great school - and so many movies and TV shows have been shot on that campus that it seems oddly familiar the first time you visit.  My step-daughter went to OXY for science and had amazing research opportunities.  She went on to Harvard Medical School.  [/quote]
