There are several forms of Presbyterianism, something I didn't know until one from a conservative strain appeared to tell members of our church (NOT a Presbyterian one, even) that we should appoint him our minister and offered us copies of a pamphlet about how women should not be ordained (our pastor at the time was a woman).

I grew up in and still worship in a mainstream Protestant church, and I don't think Mormons are Christians any more than I think Jews for Jesus are Jewish. But I don't care that the LDS is not a Christian church, and I would never tell members that unless they asked me, which . . . why would they?

OP's kid needs to apologize to the LDS kid, and not an "I'm sorry you feel that way" faux apology. "I'm sorry I said you weren't a Christian. I was out of line." If LDS kid tries to engage in debate, your kid needs to shut it down: "I'm not going to argue with you about this. I'm sorry I brought it up, and I am going to debate your faith with you."[/quote]
