All that said, OP, the bottom line is still the same as those saying it's not a big deal.  The bottom line is, unless you are comfortable asking the family about it (which sounds like it might disrupt a good vibe among all of you), you have to just let it roll off your back.  You can know someone is purposefully being a jerk and still it's better to let it roll off your back if everything else is good.
