We were together on and off for years. I lost my virginity at 19 to someone else - didn't have sex with him until I was 22 (thought about it a lot at 16-17 but wasn't ready and he was a good guy and didn't push it). My parents never intervened and if they had, it probably would've pushed me more toward him. I think it's very much a case of knowing your kid and trusting your gut.
