Admin finally reverted saying that no one has come forth to claim the items so we are free to do whatever we want with the items my son brought home. They have in their office another big big heap of backpacks, jackets and other camping stuff  to dump off within the next few days. Camelbaks are also classified as waterbottles and lunchboxes so they are usually thrown out anyway because of hygiene and bacteria reasons.

Their instructions to counselors was to try to get campers to walk through their stuff (which my son claims they did) and bring any valuables to the attention of the office. They were left to their discretion of whether to bring the rest to the lost and found pile or throw the hygiene items away. (ouch if I had my kids thermos and lunch bag thrown out! Costs us so much money to buy these things!)They agree they need to have better instructions to the counselors but thanks to all who posted on DCUM…

So in short….. I will never know if my son did take these things from someone or just helped himself to the lost and found pile and took what he liked. But certainly his coveted camelbak would have been an item thrown away so it may also well be possible he did pick it up from the “to trash” section of the lost and found. (and fitting with his story of “confusion”) So for now, I think its fair he is let off and will need to reluctantly let him go ahead to wash the bite mouthpiece belonging to some other kid (eew) and let him happily use it since he seems very fine with it ….. Also from his findings.... anyone wants two used girly sigg water bottles?
