the name of the rose shawshank redemption
Shawshank is one of my all-time faves.
Is there anyone who hasn't seen that one though?
Quite a few. Sometimes people look at a movie in a very superficial way and don't look past that. To many, it looks like a period piece prison story and that just turns people off. It's a lot more than just that, which is what makes it a good movie. Also, there are some of us who have different ways of selecting movies. I don't have cable or netflicks and I get my movies by going to the used bookstore and looking for interesting movies in the bargain DVD/Blu-ray section. I get my movies for $4-10 and we watch them. Movies that I like, I'll go back and watch a second time to try to get more out of it or look for less obvious details that I didn't look for because I was paying attention to plot. I also often like to have a movie that I've seen on in the background if I am doing some mindless chores like folding laundry, or working on a craft project. So, often, I don't see blockbusters if they don't appear in the bargain bin unless I look for them specifically to get. The people who go out and see all the blockbusters, either in theaters, on DVD/blu-ray or netflicks are a significant minority, but still a minority of the population. These days there are so many forms of entertainment that no forms of entertainment command a majority of the population, unlike, say, 50+ years ago when there were fewer entertainment options.
