Base school grads do not easily end up at the same place since they do not have 300+ acceptances to UVA and 200+ acceptances to W&M each year (in fact, those schools are safeties for almost all TJ grads), they do not have 25% of the graduating class heading off to Ivy league schools + MIT and Stanford etc.
Actually, if you compare high performing regular high school students (>2100 SAT, >33 ACT, 4.0+ in most rigorous curriculum) to TJ students, you will find that acceptance rates to the highest ranked schools are in the same range. This makes more of an apples-to-apples comparison than comparing the results of the entire high school, since TJ students are all high performing (even the "bottom 50%!).
