This is the root of the problem. Everybody says they want better roads/recycling/schools/every other service, but nobody is willing to pay higher taxes.[/quote]

Here's a corollary: if there's some way we could raise taxes and dedicated them only to gifted kids, not to those SN kids, I'm sure posters like 16:26 would be all over it. But democracies don't work that way.[/quote]
