Do all of the neighborhoods that were referenced here as good SS neighborhoods (Forest Glen, Woodmont, etc.) feed into a good HS? Appreciate your feedback as we're looking to buy somewhere in MOCO but never considered Silver Spring. thanks!
There are a number of high schools that feed from SS, but the main ones from the neighborhoods mentioned here are Blair and Einstein. They are both good schools, probably in the second tier of MoCo publics after Whitman, Churchill, WJ, and BCC. You will see Blair mentioned a lot of these boards because it has the science and tech magnet, which routinely is among the top-rated programs in the nation. Blair is also the largest MoCo school, with well over 3,000 kids. Einstein has risen in popularity recently, partly due to the runup in housing prices in the neighborhoods that feed to it. These schools are part of the Down County Consortium (DCC) which you can research on the MCPS web site. Basically, each school has a "draw" and tried to compete to gain students for unique programs. And I know there are exceptions, but the people I know zoned for Blair and Einstein tend to prefer those schools to the others in the consortium.
