The issue isn't about having opportunities to excel. The issue is a comparison between the Blair CAP and RM IB. The answer comes down to a few simple things. 1. There seems to be evidence that the Blair principal is trying to assimilate two very good programs into the regular population and essentially destroy the programs. 2. According to newsreports Superintendent Starr says he has nothing to do with it. 3. The RM IB program, which is rigorous, can't be dismantled because it is accredited by the IB group. 4. The CAP program is, according to posters, easier than the RM IB, and if things go the way they are become easier. So, it comes down to what the OP wants------a rigorous education or a program that can give an easy path to graduation. No need to start name calling and doing the usual DCUM stuff.
Several people who have kids at CAP--unlike you!--have already definitively disproved your points #1 and #3. The fact that you continue to repeat these points, now that you're well aware of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, just makes you a liar. I would agree with part of your point #4: that CAP is probably easier than RMIB. Then again, CAP is also more work than an honors course at other MoCo High schools and it's just BS when you say CAP is an "easy path to graduation." Also, the other part of your post #4, that CAP is on a downward slide, has also been challenged by several people here who have kids in CAP. So again, the fact that you persist in claiming BS that you now know to be untrue, makes you a liar. I'm not calling names. I'm just being factual about what a liar you are.
The name calling trolls are at it again!! There is enough reason to believe the magnet is being dismantled. The kid said so. Point (3) is also indisputably correct--you cant change the IB program arbitrarily and you don't disagree with (2). I don't care what you think but CAP is not what it was. If you have facts as you claim produce it.
Re point #3, you have already been told: of course MCPS could dismantle the IB program. There would be no repercussions from the Swiss IB headquarters. No repercussions whatsoever. MCPS could dismantle the RM IB program tomorrow if it wanted. Nobody sane would base pages of nastiness on the statement of one single kid who was upset that *a few* non-magnet kids were being let into her magnet program. This is not the same thing as "dismantling." If you can't see that, I despair for you. And who cares about your #2? You are a troll, clearly. Buh bye....
