One night DH and I were at the family beach house. It was a very stormy night. Really bad thunder and lightening all night. I had a dream that my mom (who had passed away) came to me to tell me to watch out for my stepfather and not to trust him. In reality, I never fully did so I figured that this was just my subconscious talking to me. I told DH about the dream in the morning. He looked a bit shocked and then proceeded to tell me his dream. He dreamt that my mother had come to him and told him to look on my step father desk because he was trying to steal money. He said he felt like she was telling him to not trust my stepfather. DH rarely dreams, so for us to have such a similar dream on the same night was kind of crazy.
So, did you check? Was he stealing?
I am pretty sure he tried to. When my grandmother passed away, my mom and aunt inherited all of her jewelry. They split it evenly between them. My Mom photographed all of the jewelry for insurance purposes. My grandfather came over and took all of my grandmothers jewelry out of my mom's and put it in a safe deposit box after my Mom passed away. My mom's personal jewelry was still at the house, which was left to my step father. I had said I want to come get it and he would say things like "well, if you are not going to wear it, just leave it here" or "you need to wait for your sister to do this" or "what's the rush". So I finally went over with one of my mothers best friends who is one of the trustees of her estate. My step father pulled the jewelry out of the safe and I said "oh, there is still some stuff on the top". He said to me " no, that's mine you don't need to see it". I found that odd, but whatever. So as we were looking through my mom's stuff he sat there watching us. I have never felt so uncomfortable. So, I had gotten a safe deposit box of my own and was ready to get my grandmothers jewelry so I could put it in there. I asked my step father for the photographs of the jewelry my mom had taken. He said he had no idea what I was talking about. I said it's on her computer and she made 4 copies of each image...they HAVE to be there somewhere. He said something to the effect of I will try and look. So a couple of weeks pass and I ask him. He said, yes, I have them, but there are photos of your aunts stuff too and you don't need those. At this point I was like WTF? I called my aunt and she told me to get ALL the images from him. So I called him back and asked for the photos again. He said to me "Yes, I found them and by the way, I found some of your grandmothers jewelry mixed in with my stuff as well". He had two brooches and an antique diamond necklace. So while I cannot prove that he was trying to keep them, the whole thing was rather fishy. After I finally got the stuff back, I remembered the night that DH and I had the dream. I apologize for my poor grammar skills in advance!
