No, I haven't ever seen anyone (or heard of anyone personally) killed or maimed. Generally the onus is on staff to keep themselves safe. When a unit has sufficient staffing, good teamwork, skilled staff with strong assessment and deescalation skills, and unit policies and procedures that promote respect and safety, it is much easier to keep yourself safe. Regardless of the unit, I consider my own safety to be my responsibility and I make decisions based on that. [/quote]
