By doing things to make wild animals feel threatened.  Unless you live in an area with large predators, fear is the only reason an animal will bite you.

The way to discourage raccoons is to lock up your trash.  That's what they are coming for.[/quote]

FYI wild animals do not just run around biting people because "they get too close". Seriously?  If that were the case the majority of people living anywhere near wild critters would spend half their time in the ER being treated for bite wounds!  Do you realize what you have to be doing to antagonize a wild animal to the point of biting you? Just being close does not an aggressive animal make.  Short of provoking them mercilessly, 99% will not bite you.  Yes, there are the RARE cases of a rabid animal being aggressive.  Living in Alaska amongst the largest wild animals in the nation do you know what the majority of wild animal accidents are? Hitting a moose with your car! I would seriously hope that you move back to the city, high enough up in an apartment complex where even those obnoxious loud birdies won't visit.  If you are going to complain this much about the wildlife you should never, ever step foot out of the concrete jungle of the big city.  Better yet, never leave you apartment.  Those city rats might attack![/quote]
