OP I don't understand the hate either. I guess most everyone else on this thread is perfect. I on the other hand am like you responsible but not perfect. When I was in college in a separate state, the bank I used imposed an inactivity fee over the summer if you had a zero balance. I had only a few k and so I would write a check every spring to move the balance from my school bank to my home bank and in the fall to do the opposite. Well my school account had closed my account over the summer and I was in a panic because I had written several checks the day I was depositing money from my home bank to my school bank. Thankfully, the bank was understanding and reopened my account and took off the fees. Fast forward 10 years later and I had an account with T Rowe Price. For some reason they closed my account and opened another account. It was an internal reorganization at T Rowe Price but I had written a couple of checks on the old account. My neighbor had the exact same problem and customer service handled it. Once my husband paid the mortgage in error ten cents short in error and you would have thought he committed capital murder with nasty gram that followed but a quick call to customer service resolved it. When I was on maternity leave, we did mail the mortgage late once but thankfully it was less than 30 days so it wasn't reported. Normally, we had paid months in advance. Another time we moved and one of the credit cards we rarely use updated our address information incorrectly. I realized in less than 30 days past due and the card assessed like 100 penalty on a 50 charge. The customer service representative was a real jerk so I cancelled the card. These are all the issues that I have had in twenty years but based on DC Urban Mom forum standards , I'm irresponsible. FWIW my credit score is in the low 800'ss.
Those don't sound bad to me ... OP's was a bit different (completely missed & late), not to mention the attitude. Signed, Another 800+ credit score
