A lot of students have transferred from Landon in recent years. To a certain extent, this may just be a function of the fact that families go there for the lacrosse, and if it turns out not to be a great fit for the player in question (good athlete but not quite good enough for major playing time, for example), the families will turn to other schools. But it seems a little odd that once they are at the school these students and families aren't willing to stay for the community even if the sport isn't going precisely as they had hoped. The latest report has students transferring to a school not in Landon's conference, the IAC, to a school and conference not known for big-time athletics. So maybe it is a case of athletes hoping to develop more as big fish in a smaller pond. But, if true, it still seems odd that a relatively large number of students would be willing to leave their friends, their classmates, their teachers. Sign of the times, maybe. (Or just totally incorrect rumor -- wouldn't be the first time.)
Hard to believe anyone interested in playing D1 in college would transfer from Landon to the MAC conference. It is just a different level of lacrosse. Yes more recruitment happens from club based play but it certainly helps to be playing competitive lacrosse on a HS team.
