You are getting triggered here, and it's clouding your judgment. The question is how much your child wants a relationship with her cousins and extended family. To not show up at her grandmother's funeral because she had something better to do isn't a great way to be a part of a family. And they'll all blame you for either not letting her go, or that you're such a pushover that you would let her do an 8th grade event rather than go.[/quote]
