[/quote] Well, 150 years ago San Francisco was sort of famous for the number of civil war veterans with opium addictions. I think opium/morphine addiction was even referred to as San Francisco disease. And it certainly had its issues in the 1960s-1980s too. I remember walking around even in the early 90s and everyone assumed I was a runaway because there were still so many runaways in certain parts of SF, mostly sitting on the streets doing drugs and engaging in sex trade. 25 years ago was right before to dot com bubble so SF may have been artificially inflated at that point.
