I don't much care for schools that push values. If your "green" initiative is done from a STEM perspective, fine. If you are pushing PETA, specific lifestyles (i.e. being vegan) and an organic only philosophy, I will pass. I want my child to have a great education but I will focus on values at home.
+++1000 I agree completely.
By the way, I have noticed that healthy eating always evokes controversy on these boards, with posters speaking out against initiatives launched by school boards and individual schools. It is quite predictable. I confess I at first found it surprisinng. On the political scene, such initiatives are the object of strong pushback given financial stakes. Of course, all groups have the right to express their point of view!
Choosing what to eat and how we nourish ourselves and our families is probably one of the most fundamental freedoms we have. You're damn right I get upset when busybodies try to tell me what to eat or how I should feed my family. How we prepare and enjoy foods is very unique to each family. This has NOTHING to do with corporations or financial stakes and everything to do with ME. I'll sign off now it's time to make breakfast! Bacon and eggs anyone?
