Shouldn't these adults illegal or not being going to the alternative school why have them with minors
No. In the U.S. special education students and English language students can stay in school until 22 (well more like 21 but to be technical we will say 22). And there are many many many EL students who are good students and hard workers trying to get a diploma when they got here at age 16/17 and began school late and need more time. They should not automatically be shuffled to “the alternative school.”
This is why the budget for FCPS keeps growing even with declining enrollment. 20% of FCPS students are EL learners. 1 in 5. And many can’t even read or write in their primary language. FCPS can’t even afford alternative schools. Meanwhile these kids are a drag on everyone else.
PP here and this is harmful thinking. My school is majority EL and no, they are not a drag. They are great kids who are incredibly motivated to learn but have a lot of obstacles. We need to not demonize EL students because of this kid.
They are a drag on the schools they are in and FCPS as a whole
They’re not but you’re a bigot and I won’t change your mind
They are a drag and consume massive amounts of resources that could go to citizens and legal residents. Goodbye illegals.
Being an EL student =/= being here illegally dummy
There's a very large overlap dummy.
Yeah yeah yeah the multiple thousands of “illegal kids” taking up all the funding and attention are why your kids didn’t end up special enough to get into AAP and Ivy League schools I’m so sure.
Nah, we're good here. But the schools do gobble up a lot of property taxes in case you haven't noticed. Cut the dead weight (illegals) and FCPS will be doing a lot better.
Well take it up with your congressperson because it’s federal law that even undocumented students must be educated.
They wouldn’t need to be educated if they weren’t here to begin with. Deportation is the solution. Of course the governor seems to want all illegals to remain in VA.
Crying about federal law and bringing up a governor who runs a state as if it’s her fault… what a clown , a racist clown to boot!
