I really wanted to go but the more I learned as an adult it sounds awful. In the middle of nowhere.
?? Palo Alto is the middle of nowhere? It is a city of 70k people sandwiched between SF and San Jose and surrounded by the some of the wealthiest areas in the world and responsible for an outsized portion of the world's economy. Much more cosmopolitan than Charlottesville, Durham or many of the other places DCUM is obsessed by . . .
"The Farm" is not cosmopolitan and college kids don't want to hang in a stuffy rich suburb
Stanford has one of the highest yields in the country... Over 80%. Lots of kids choose to attend "The Farm" thank you very much. Yield rate is in Harvard, MIT territory and surpasses Princeton and Yale. My NoVA kid was accepted. Looking at top states represented for Class of 28 and 29, NY, MD, VA, MA, NJ are on list, per Gemini.
