I had an algebra teacher who used to scream "both sides of the equation" and pick up a chair and brandish it at us. DD tales sound plausible to me.
Ha. I would do that too. Do you know how many kids forget that???
We all had to recite in gregorian chant "what thou doest unto one side of the equation, thou must doest unto the other." Awesome teacher.
Haha. I had a teacher who stalked up and down desks and occasionally slammed a metal yardstick onto a desk for emphasis. We all loved him and we paid attention so no hands got whacked. My AP physics teacher started every day by telling us all that we probably shouldn't even bother trying in his class because American education had gone downhill and we could barely read or write and were just going to wind up working at McDonalds. He also played some kind of science radio show every Friday and then tore the presenter apart in the most sarcastic terms imaginable. We found him hilarious and he was one of the most popular teachers in the science department. Obviously these were high school - high school teachers can be more idiosyncratic. Middle and elementary school teachers can't, their students would take them literally.
