How is Dr. Bostic handling the situation or are MCPS Central Office folk running the show
It feels to me like he was sidelined by central office. He is always very visible and sends a lot of emails but the few messages we’ve gotten aren’t in his usual style. I know people have mixed feelings about his time at Wootton but DS really likes him and we think someone else is really running the show now.
Yikes. This usually is a sign they've lost confidence in the principal. I imagine they might make him take the fall for this incident. Cause Taylor certainly won't.
I don’t think this is correct. Central office big wigs always take over in these kinds of ultra serious situations - for better or worse.
Not always. I attended the Northwood meeting after they found a gun and it was the Dr. Garrick show and I’m glad it was. People even asked central office people to speak up and say something because they were silent. We really liked Dr. Bostic at Northwood and hope this isn’t a bad sign for him. Dr. Garrick is a veteran and Dr. Bostic is novice so maybe that was the difference.
Glad he was good at Northwood, but not at Wootton. Arguably, the worst incident to ever occur in Wootton's history happened under Bostic's watch. Also suspensions under Bostic increased by, get this, over 375%. According to the MCPS website, there were 49 suspensions in the 24-25 school year at Wootton and 71% (35 of 49) were suspensions from "attack incidents". Of the 35 attack incidents, 2/3rds were committed by less than 1/9th of the student population. It's very likely even lower than that, but the statistics on repeat offenders (ie down to the incidents committed by certain individuals) is not publicly released by MCPS. This all happened under Bostic's watch. Under Nelson in 23-24, there were only 13 suspensions the entire year (in all categories), and a little over half committed by less than 1/9th of the student population. Additionally, no one was hurt in the "planned shooting" incident under Nelson, yet no one says what a great job he did on that? Nelson intercepted an issue BEFORE anyone was shot. The hypocrisy of the BoE is truly staggering.
Remember Moran and McGee fabricated a race crisis to get rid of Doug Nelson.
Is there any proof that they fabricated a race crisis? I thought it was not handling a race crisis well. Also, Nelson was accused of not doing the mandatory race training, and Moran believed it without investigating. Is that incorrect? Not the same as fabrication.
This is correct. There WAS a race crisis and Doug Nelson handled it very poorly.
