Devoid of any kind of intellectual understanding. If you can only function under blanket rules you're f'd basically. Get some minions in to moderate for you.
Better yet, start your own forum and show me how it is done. You are obviously an expert.
It's kind of sad that you have to post these defensive retorts, especially when the criticism aimed at you is spot on.
I guess if you are the one making the criticism, it is not surprising that you consider it to be spot on. Forgive me if I disagree. I think your criticism is petty, inaccurate, and obnoxious. Why was criticizing Brigitte Bardot so important to you that it could not wait 48 hours and what does that say about you?
I didn't criticize her. I stated that she abandoned her son and declared herself not "maternal". This is fact. If you choose to see it as criticism, that's your own limited perspective informing your opinion. Come on Jeff, you're a lot smarter than that.
"Abandoned" has negative connotations. She didn't leave the child on the side of the road. You certainly didn't mean this as praise. But again, what does it say about you that you couldn't wait 48 hours to post this and now, several days later, you are still upset enough to spend your Saturday afternoon posting about it?
What other term does one use when a mother decides not to parent a child? I think "abandoned" is the most accurate term. Let me know if you are aware of a better term, one that you prefer.
There are several alternatives. You could say that the child's father gained full custody. You could say that she allowed her ex-husband to have full custody. You could even suggest that this is an example of the importance of women having bodily autonomy. Had Bardot had bodily autonomy, she would not have been forced to carry the child to term and custody would never have been an issue.
Okay. Strangely, I think you are shifting this to the issue of abortion? I am sure your opinion of that is valid, and I a pro-abortion personally having had one myself, but honestly, without a deeper discussion of this Bardot family arrangement, it doesn't seem remotely relevant here.
I suggested three alternatives to saying that she abandoned the child. You have chosen to highlight one of them. But, of course, the issue is entirely relevant. She had a child that she didn't want. If she had access to legal abortion, she would not have been forced to have the child. One unfortunate situation led to another unfortunate situation. You just want to ignore the first.
