Esp as a student of color I did make an effort as a  to go beyond the campus--at that time you could go as far as Dupont Circle and once you got to 14th and P, it was all downhill.  I went over to Howard frequently, had an internship at the DNC, worked for a lobbying firm on Connecticut Ave, and generally had a great time.  My DC isn't interested because it is in DC and their school is in the Gtown neighborhood.[/quote]
