Has MCPS said what is happening to Wootton HS building? Does it become a holding school forever? Do current Wootton students move to Crown HS permanently? And anything about timeline? If Fall 2027, does that mean current underclassmen change buildings to Crown HS for upperclassmen years?
I’d have to imagine it becomes a permanent holding school for high school and middle school projects county wide. Maybe not MS in east county (if the SSIMS plan comes to fruition) but certainly high schools county wide. Below are schools that will have been 25 years since last renovate or since built (in 2026). This means given we’d likely be doing one high school/two middle schools every 2-3 years by the time the first batch are done the newer schools will easily be near 50 years old. Honestly this may not even be enough given the substantial needs. Certainly some schools would need to be built on site while students attend.
