Simply put, Pomona is the best LAC in America.
LOL If you like tiny, woke and lacking CS, it’s fabulous. The ongoing nonsense with the administration is the icing on the cake.
It has a CS department…with 10 tenured faculty…that’s been running for decades…
For parents out there, the CS lottery was lifted this year; they actually have excess cs courses and can teach more electives now! With access to Pomona CS and Harvey mudd electives, 100% worth it. Lot of alum at Google.
Dream on — from parent of a current junior. You Pomona boosters are insufferable — stop making things sound so much better than they are. Three profs are on leave. Others are not tenured. And the admin is a revolving door. https://www.pomona.edu/academics/departments/computer-science/faculty-staff
Professors go on leave at every institution. Any good institution should have a sabbatical process that is consistent and where subjects don't overlap. There are factually 10 tenure-track (not tenured) professors. There is only one individual on there who is not on the tenure track, which is not common at LACs, which tend to depend on lecturer/visiting labor, this is actually a good thing. I can't help you with the admin issue, because you posted nothing indicating that to be true. What I can see is that you are catastrophizing a bit. 10 tenure track professors is pretty decent for such a small college. Amherst has the same amount of faculty as Pomona, and it has 200 more students.
