I have relatives on both sides of the political spectrum, and they are all welcome at my (moderate) table. I don’t want political talk, and I’m confident nobody else does either. I see people as more than their political leanings and this world has enough hate in it already. I’m not going to add to it.
You do you but I refuse to embrace family members who vote for someone like Trump. It’s like turning a blind eye to people in the South who threw rocks at Black children integrating schools or Black people sitting at Whites Only lunch counters. Nope
Your grotesque hyperbole is doing you no favors. Don't forget to compare him to Hitler and throw in a few "concentration camps" for good measure.   DP
DP. You can eyeroll and gaslight all you want, but Trump truly is next level evil/awful. The criticism of him is not hyperbole. This is about core values, decency, ethics, and morality at this point. These are not discussions about basic fiscal policies. This is about constant lying from this administration, human rights violations in the name of immigration enforcement, blatant corruption by Trump and his cronies while they are gleefully firing hardworking feds, destruction of a fair and independent DOJ, attempts to undermine fair elections and democracy itself. On and on. And that isn't even scratching the surface of the repugnant personal actions of Trump outside of the times he's been POTUS. If you find these things to be excusable or unimportant, people like those of us on this thread have zero interest in spending time with you. Why would we want to spend Thanksgiving with morally bankrupt people? Who cares if they are relations or not?
They have no morals or systems of ethics. It’s beyond them that you would. At the same time that they will swallow the awful actions of the administration they will sit around and talk about “the illegals,” AND at the same time pretending to be Christian.
