U.S. companies have announced over 1.1 million job cuts in 2025 – the highest since the dot-com bust. October alone saw 153,074 layoffs, the most for any October in over 20 years. AI adoption, automation, and rising costs are driving cuts across technology, warehousing, and other sectors. Seasonal hiring plans are the lowest since tracking began in 2012. Newly laid-off Americans face a diminished hiring environment, with companies announcing the fewest hiring plans since 2011. Yet we continue importing more than one million new foreign workers annually through legal immigration, with chain migration driving a significant portion. President Trump has stopped illegal entries and is enforcing immigration laws, but only Congress can end chain migration. Where are democrats?? Why do they push for more and more immigration??
Trump didn't "stop illegal entries" - they are still happening, but at a lower rate than they were. And what do you mean, "where are the Democrats?" Maybe you forgot you voted to put Republicans in charge, so it's on them to do it. Some Republicans have talked about legislation to limit chain migration, and some Democrat support do support reforms, but where the Republicans go wrong is by trying to make it too narrow, like not allowing sponsorship of parents or siblings, and when they tie their legislation to other MAGA nonsense that no Democrat will get behind. Also, some of the Republican proposals have other problems, like if a parent did get a visa sponsored by a naturalized child, the parent's visa would bar the parent from being able to work, which makes little sense to me.
