Presidents should not be running businesses on the side. I remember when Jimmy Carter had to sell his peanut farm before assuming the Presidency, to avoid a conflict of interest.

Republicans are responsible for the shutdown and for reopening the government.  They control all three branches, but can’t even fulfill the most basic functions of government.  Why has the House been out of session for a month?  Why won’t Mike Johnson seat Adelita Grijalva?

True, I misspoke. He did end up having to sell it off after his presidency, mainly due to three years of drought.  He also sold 100 shares of common stock that he owned before becoming President.

W sold off his stake in the Texas Rangers before becoming President, and the Clintons dissolved their blind trust and converted it to cash to avoid any conflict of interest.  Trump is thumbing his nose at the Ethics in Government act.[/quote]
