Op again. Thanks to everyone for lifting me up! These are going to be tough decisions. Your input and experiences are very helpful. Especially the tip about exercising to combat fatigue. Lumpectomy (if I even have that option) and mastectomy both have pros and cons. I have to be honest though...the mastectomy is likely the path I will choose unless the doctor tells me something truly compelling. Admittedly, neither option is great. I read a really well thought pros/cons list on bc.org regarding DCIS and treatment options. I would post it here, but it is quite lengthy. My biggest fear is that there is something else lurking in there, hiding in my dense tissue. The mastectomy would reveal everything and sweep most (hopefully all) of it away. However, with three younger kids to care for and a pending divorce I'm not sure how recovery would go. My STBXH won't be much help and I'm certain he will find some way to make my cancer dx be all about him :-). I am so happy this thread is helpful to others. Has anyone had the new 3D mammogram? I looked it up on YouTube, no compression AT ALL. It is not widely offered yet, but the technology seems to have finally evolved in our favor!
