I love the fair. The amusement ride side can have rowdy teens hanging there at night, but I never feared being there with my kids at night. The teenagers are usually only bugging other teenagers. But if you're generally a fearful person, then you might not like that side at night. The people running the rides can seem creepy but that has always been a universal truth. I have a branch in my family who were carnies/meth heads back in the 80s. They've since straightened out and all live in Jupiter FL (carnival capital) now as millionaires, go figure.
That sounds like an interesting story. How’d they make their money?
sorry just seeing this. So during winter months carnies do construction work. They all got into roofing. Then came Hurricane Andrew in 1992, that hit FL from both sides coming and going. Every roof in the state needed replacement. They made out like bandits.
oh, and it didn't hurt that afterwards, their construction company won alot of Walmart build out contracts when they were expanding like crazy in the late 90s, early 00s. They all retired early to boot...sigh Makes family reunions fun at least, when they're hosting.
