Asian girls, especially East Asian, completely smoke every other group at our school much to the ire of the Indian boy moms. The white boys at our school don’t even try to apply to UCs anymore unless they have a 3.9 /4.2 along with top leadership positions and then they are lucky to get into a mid tier UC for social sciences or humanities. These girls are never leaders in elected positions, winning competitions or running the robotics club or getting NMS awards. They are getting perfect grades, doing more volunteer work, do band or lower key clubs, play ann instrument and writing essays that resonate more with admissions officers. For UCLA as an example, only 2 boys were admitted who were tippy top in Physics and Math. The rest of the UCLA admits were all East Asian girls who weren’t outstanding in any way. It’s very odd.
lol. As the mom of an Indian boy, I find this hilarious. Shame on you for calling these girls not outstanding in any way. AOs are comparing all of the elements you mentioned and they pick who they want. That's how it goes.
They really aren’t. It happens every year. The list of kids winning awards, recognitions, school scholarships etc etc and the list of who got into UCLA and UCB do not overlap. It’s not just GPA or rigor either as most of the kids in the top category have highest rigor and perfect GPAs. It’s always these random dutiful drones that get accepted to the top UCs. They themselves are absolutely shocked.
