I have to agree with you and I said this exact same thing to my husband last night. I am a prosecutor and most of the people that are convicted are illegally in possession of guns (i.e., no license or registration) and they are NOT mentally ill - just bad people.  Here, the mother knew her son was mentally ill;  yet, kept guns in the house, which he clearly had access to.  It was the perfect storm and so preventable. Yes, he could have obtained weapons illegally and committed the same crime but here  she made it so easy for him.[/quote]
