Maybe the kids would actually learn something about safety.

Fascinating how drivers are required to protect their kids in car seats until they’re like 12 years old (which is a little overboard but on balance probably fine) while cyclists can do basically whatever with a kid on board who has essentially zero protection if an accident happens. [/quote]

In 2023, 559 children were killed in cars in motor vehicle accidents, 136 died as pedestrians, and 31 died as cyclists after being hit by cars. That same year, 29 kids died from being left alone in hot cars. In 2022, over 2,500 children died from firearms. The statistics seem pretty clear that, if you’re really concerned about keeping children safe, bikes should be among the least of your worries.[/quote]
