Imposing 50% tariffs on their input costs, which ironically makes steel, aluminum and copper that much cheaper to the rest of the world so now the Japanese and European car manufacturers can eat the 15% tariff because their production costs are going down. Oh yeah...we also slapping a 35% tariff on auto components from Mexico and Canada even though the factories are oftentimes owned by US car companies. Not to mention, that China is just eating our lunch with electric cars and dominating the rest of the world. Even China knows how stupid it is to slap tariffs on all the inputs that they need to leapfrog the us (semiconductors et al)...they are subsidizing their companies in AI, nuclear energy, solar energy, electric auto manufacturing, etc.[/quote]
