People make this argument all the time with absolutely no evidence of it. Those of us who keep firearms by our beds (I'm a 50s something woman who does) have been trained and know when and how to use them. Please, show me a time when someone has had their own gun turned on them in their home. I have never seen one.[/quote]

There’s tons of research showing it. There’s no research showing you could wake up, pull off your cpap machine and hoist yourself over to your nightstand and get a weapon before the professional criminal caps you. If it’s someone coming with the intent to murder or harm you, specifically, your obese ass isn’t going to do anything better than them with a gun. If it’s someone who is just robbing you - what would shooting accomplish, except possibly escalate a situation which should be de escalated.[/quote]
