I live in the general neighborhood (but IB for/with kids at L-T) and I cannot imagine turning down Maury as an IB family for another public option... Maybe if I was really set on immersion? Insane to turn down a quality local school because you anecdotally think some parents (your neighbors??) are unfriendly.

In general, I find my Hill neighbors really nice and friendly, especially those with kids in any of the local DCPSes. We have loads of friends at Maury via local kids' activities. The friendly vibe is part of why so many people live and stay on the Hill even when it complicates school options later on. Sorry you've had such a different experience, but I think it's pretty abnormal![/quote]

Non-white IB families turn down Maury routinely? For where? (I am also not sending my kids to EH or Eastern, but the same considerations absolutely do not apply to Maury which has fabulous test scores and a large group of high achieving students.)[/quote]
