I believe that sacramentally a marriage can only exist between a man and a women, but secularly I understand that there are other unions that are recognized. All good. I'm religious and follow my church rules, but fully get that my gay friends do not believe the same things and they follow their rules. Nowhere does my religion tell me to be hateful to those who believe differently, no I'm not. I have loads of gay friends. They do what works for them and I do what works for me. No judgement by any of us. We're all adults and just live by what works for us.
Thanks for this thoughtful perspective. I’m not sure I totally agree with you but I really appreciate this balanced answer.
+1 that I love what PP has to say. I'm Protestant, so marriage isn't a sacrament for us, but the gist is exactly what MOST Protestants at the churches I've been part of (which all would be willing to make statements like OP mentioned, though usually not up front on their websites - they prefer to keep the website type statements for things that are core to the faith like the Trinity) would agree with.
