Simple explanation: After people have watched the schoolyard bully insult, taunt, and threaten a smaller kid on a daily basis, stealing the smaller kid’s lunch money, giving him a wedgie, shoving him in a locker, making him do the bully’s homework…when another kid comes along and slugs the bully and tells him to knock it off, you cheer, even if you generally think no one should be getting slugged.

Trump is the bully. His base are the idiot sidekicks who cheer him on and laugh at the kid getting bullied. People who are “other” are the kid being bullied: immigrants, the poor, LGBTQ+, people who aren’t Christian, etc. The justice system is the kid who slugged the bully. The people who are glad the bully got slugged are anti Trump. The people who didn’t care about the bullying as long as it wasn’t directed at them are Trump voters.

Now the kid who slugged Trump has moved away and Trump’s sycophants have grown another 6 inches taller. They’re indiscriminately terrorizing everyone on the playground. They’re the only ones who are safe.[/quote]
