??  No one is going to be in school from 9 to 6.  The hours would be 9 to 3 (or 8:30 to 2:30 or whatever).

And no, the high schooler can't currently wake up at 7.  School starts too early for that.  That is the WHOLE point of this.  High schoolers are getting up at 5:30am to shower, etc, so they can be on the bus at 6:30am.  This works against their biological clocks.  This petition would ALLOW them to sleep in until 7.

I don't know ... remember when your kids were babies?  They needed early bedtimes and naps.  We read all those sleep books and enforced quiet time as they outgrew their naps as preschoolers.  Teenagers have biorhythms and sleep needs too.  They are different from babies but they are also different from adults.

When they have a job in the real world they will be grownups with different biorhythms.  There is no reason to require a 16 year old to sleep and wake like a 23 year old.  They are different and have different needs.[/quote]
