Don’t go to UVA if you want to support a winning football team.
At least, as a student, you will have no trouble getting tickets to games.
Nobody goes to games, it’s really sad. UVA lost to JMU which was the final straw for the few that actually still went to games.
Plenty attend UVA football games. Love it when the Cavalier rides out with the sword held high on that beautiful horse. Give it a rest, buddy.
“Plenty” meaning the upper deck has been empty for years. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UFb5lLhJYjw
We always have a great time at the games. Lots of school spirit. Go Hoos!
Why can’t they fill the stadium? Seriously, it’s a bad look.
The team sucks and has for decades. I went to UIUC and it was the same thing. They were good in the 1980s and the stadium was full, then they just sucked for 30 years and kids, alums and locals have better things to do with their time. It is same with the Commanders, they were terrible for a long time the stadium had been half empty for years until last year. If UVA is any good, the fans will come out. It isn't like VT where they were awesome for like 20 years and just recently started being terrible. The VT fans know they can turn things around if things break their way, but UVA fans have no memories of their glory years.
It seems a bit sad that the measure of higher education for many is how good the football team is and whether the stadium is full.
Nobody said it’s the measure of higher education but you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think it matters for school spirit and overall excitement. A winning program creates a buzz, the opposite of the depressing description of UVa from a PP.
Np. Plenty of tailgating and buzz at the UVA football games I’ve attended. Looking forward to this upcoming season - winning season or not.
DP. Maybe you’ve never experienced a full stadium or a team that’s actually good. It’s different. Good luck and have fun though.
Yay it's fun but it is a stupid reason on which to base a college decision.
Once again, nobody said it’s a reason to base a college decision.
Yes they did, idiot.
Also once again, a winning football team has tangible benefits such as full stadiums and more widespread excitement on campus. UVA fans should really be demanding answers from the AD, president and board as to why they have been awful for so long. It’s sad.
Or you could just go there for the education and not care about football, or you could go there and be excited about the UVA teams that are good, like men's lacrosse.
