Children should be allowed to experiment with boundaries and learn how to make their own decisions. “No” circumvents that learning process and substitutes emotional growth with fear. Fear doesn’t make well-adjusted emotionally mature adults. MAGAs are the sort of people who grew up obeying their parents, chiefly out of fear. You see how they turned out. Is that what you want for your own children? Because that is what you’ll get if you demand your children obey you. They’ll become MAGAs.
This is extreme and in the extreme stupid. Children need to experiment for sure but they also lack the basic biological capability for sound decisions making. Hence, development involves a give and take between rule following and self discovery. Also, strangely in your view, self identified progressives have much more mental illness, anxiety and depression. All that freedom independent of developmental reality is probably what messed them up.
