I am a man and I don’t have any problems with traditional feminism at all. Equality and removing structural barriers that were based on gender alone were neccessary and long overdue changes to our society. The main thing that bothers me today is how it all played out. Rather than creating a more feminine society that prioritizes family and a balanced home/work life we ended up with women who started to act like the worst men. We needed a softer society and we ended up with the opposite.
Definition of equality: the right of different groups of people to have a similar social position and receive the same treatment Why would you think equality would make a more feminine society? Men traditionally have held all the wealth and power. By definition, equality puts to put women in a similar social position to men. Any woman with any sense knows that femininity doesn’t square with getting into equal footing as men. Throwing the term femininity around in this context is code for anti equality. How about the men be the ones to create a softer society?
You are blinded by your own gender bias. Some men are trying to create a softer society and so are some women. But that effort is counteracted by many women and men who are choosing to pursue the most destructive lifestyles of power and wealth. It was wrong for men to traditionally hold all the power and wealth so we shouldn’t promote more of the same just because a woman can now be an oppressive wealth hoarder too. Old fashioned masculine stereotypes are bad for society no matter which gender is acting them out. It’s not “anti equality code” to lament the fact that many women have chosen to become just like their own oppressors thus continuing the worst tendencies of our culture that we (I thought) were fighting against.
It's a shame that generations can't seem to grow and let go of harmful toxic parts of our past. Racism, misogyny, homophobia, all the hatred is just perpetuated generation after generation. It boggles the mind how humans can't do better...well they can but choose not to it's why we have MAGA.
