Gmafb. They do not have the money for this.
Edison is close but not close enough for the few minutes between classes and that makes no sense.
EDISON IS A TRADE SCHOOL. They do not offer Gen Ed classes. WHS partners with them. Edison does not help the overcrowding
What they are saying is to build more classrooms for Wheaton to use. Yes, we know it’s a trade school.
Are you a crazy person? Wheaton CANT have the same bell schedule as Edison bc the kids would never make it to class on time. Right now, kids take 10-15 minutes to walk. There is no world in which this would work unless you are going to separate underclassmen from upperclassmen, essentially separating Wheaton into two schools
Wheaton and Edison are next to each other. They are as close as many portables are to their school buildings.
Hahaha. You’ve never visited this school, have you? There is NO SPACE adjacent or between WHS and Edison to put a portable. Unless you would like it to go on top of the child development playground, bus loop, or football field. Better yet, let’s put it in the parking lot that only has about 150 spaces for 300+ staff. Portables would go on the other side of Edison (which is a good 15-2 min walk). AND most of that property is owned by the community pool. So no. There is no option.
They are proposing using the existing shell space inside of Edison, not portables.
Which is still a very far walk. The existing double bell schedule for Edison students is already a nightmare.
It is a one-minute walk from Wheaton to Edison.
Omg that’s funny. Not if you are inside Edison and need to walk to third floor Wheaton in the 3300 hallway. Have you ever been there?
Obviously, but how is this any different than a student walking from one end of Blair to the other, or any other large school building? What is your proposal to solve the overcrowding?
I don’t think you’ve ever been to the new Wheaton campus. Wheaton is much larger than Blair. Edison is also large. And then you have a good 5 mins of walking distance between the actual buildings. FLO Analytics or whoever is proposing this is stupid. Take a look at the campus on Google maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8Xc9fn12WizeYLni8?g_st=ic
Perhaps you should talk with your Wheaton cluster coordinator, because she has been proposing this option for the past two years.
